Kremlin appoints ex-Fin Min Kudrin Deputy Chair of pres council

MOSCOW, May 4 (PRIME) -- The Russian presidential administration has appointed former Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin as a deputy chairman of a recently created presidential economic council, as follows from documents published by the Kremlin on April 30.

President Vladimir Putin earlier said that he would like to restart meetings of the panel of his economic council, including Kudrin, Central Bank Chairwoman Elvira Nabiullina, Sberbank CEO German Gref, and presidential aides. The president traditionally chairs the meetings.

Media reported that the experts will take urgent measures to reignite the economy before the 2018 elections.

Kudrin said earlier that media reports regarding his role in the new economic plan is exaggerated, while Kremlin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the president will use Kudrin’s expertise and called Kudrin one of the best finance ministers in the world.
